Manhattan Beach · Since 1984
Some shoes are
worth keeping.
Since 1984, Harry Ashikian has repaired fine shoes and the bags you carry, by hand, on Highland Avenue.
Trusted with Allen Edmonds, Ferragamo, fine designer bags, and the pairs you reach for every day.
For four decades, the work at Salvatore’s has stayed the same: good shoes, made right again. Bring in the pair you thought you’d lost, and walk out with them back.

Master craftsman · Since 1984
The neighborhood already knows
Word of mouth, for forty years
Salvatore opened these doors on Highland Avenue and built a name for honest work. Harry Ashikian learned the leather trade as a teenager in Syria, by hand, the old way, with no shortcuts.
In 1984, when Salvatore retired, Harry took over the bench. He has been here ever since: one man, one trade, four decades of it. Most of the people who walk in were sent by someone they trust.
Harry looks your shoes over and tells you honestly what’s worth doing, and when it is, you forget they were ever worn out. Need a bag rebuilt, restored, or made from scratch? He does that too.
It is a family business. You’ll often find his son Shaunt at the counter, and many mornings Harry still walks to the Manhattan Beach pier and back before the bench warms up.
